With food security as our largest focus area, we supported our partners in addressing both urgent needs and the broader challenges that make it hard for vulnerable people to consistently access nutritious food. Through food rescue, redistribution, education, and community programs, we helped millions of people in need receive meals while reducing food waste, strengthening systems, and promoting health and social connection.
Rising living costs, climate disruptions, and reduced food donations placed pressure on food relief networks. In response, we helped partners scale operations and improve logistics to meet growing demand.
Our investment in OzHarvest’s NEST program (Nutrition Education Skills Training) and UKHarvest’s Community Food Hubs helped people to better understand nutrition, make healthier food choices and create stronger social connections. Meals on Wheels San Francisco reported 92% of clients could live independently thanks to the provision of regular hot meals.
Goodman Foundation is also helping Tafel Deutschland deliver a three-year program of nutrition workshops, family cooking sessions, and volunteer training—laying the groundwork for tangible impact.
Our partners are integrating food support with health, housing, and welfare. Refettorio OzHarvest Sydney served over 15,000 meals while making over a thousand referrals to external services through on-site social workers. Similarly, UKHarvest hosted a range of external support agencies alongside their surplus food redistribution programmes, available to everyone who attended: Nourish Hub connected over 1,000 people to services, while Community Food Hubs connected approximately 900 people. These programs reduce social isolation for those in hardship, connect them to other support services and provide much needed nutritional food.
Through our partnerships with Good360 and Thread Together, we’re focused on providing household goods and brand new clothing to people in need. We supported initiatives that helped people facing crisis, particularly women and children escaping family violence, to access essential items when they needed them most. With our support, thousands of people received new clothing, personal care items, and household goods that provided immediate comfort, dignity and stability during stressful times.
Our financial support of Stepping Stone House and Women’s Community Shelters, Australia and Habitat for Humanity, Hong Kong helped people who were homeless, at risk of becoming homeless or living in unsafe conditions to access safe accommodation and programs for long-term housing stability. This includes crisis housing, transitional accommodation, housing improvements and independent living programs, alongside provision of services such as mental health support, life skills development and employment assistance. Our new partnership with the Property Industry Foundation will help fund long-term transitional housing for young people in Surry Hills, Sydney.
